Helmsdale looked interesting so we parked and set off on foot to have a look around. Helmsdale's history goes back centuries before the construction of Helmsdale Castle in 1488. The sign near the arch stone bridge, built in 1811, says "Oncoming vehicles in middle of road". We saw this sign a lot in the UK - not something we see in Australia.
